Palazzo Turchi di Bagno
The building was built in 1498 and the work was partly supervised directly by Duke Ercole I d’Este prior to its sale to Aldobrandino Turchi.
While belonging to the Bagno family, it became property of the military in 1933 and sustained heavy damage from bombing during the Second World War. After re-building, it became a university and museum. It has been home to the Botanical Garden of Ferrara since 1962 and in 1964 the Geological Institute and the “Piero Leonardi” Museo di Paleontologia e Preistoria [Museum of paleontology and pre-history]. It now houses several university departments and the Sistema Museale di Ateneo.
