Bassaniani Study Center

The Bassaniani Study Center, established by the municipality of Ferrara following donations by the professor Portia Anne Prebys, tells - thanks to more than five thousand books, documents, art and furniture objects - a significant part of the life and work of the writer Giorgio Bassani from Ferrara.

The library consists of more than 5.000 volumes and modern pamphlets, coming from the Prebys Legacy, of mainly literary, geographic, artistic topics and more than 9.000 archive folders containing writings of and about Giorgio Bassani from 1935 to today. All the editions of the author's works are present in italian and in 18 other languages; in addition, there are "La bibliografia delle opere di Giorgio Bassani" (the list of the writings, divided into sections: Poetry, narrative, essays, translations, Italia Nostra, interviews and more) and "La memoria critica su Giorgio Bassani" (list of writings from 1935 to 2010); both these volumes are available in PDF on the website on The Bassaniani Study Center.
