Located in a 16th century farmhouse surrounded by 4 hectares of countryside, it lies inside Ferrara's medieval city walls. Newly restored in a tasteful, modern design, it has a garden, spacious rooms and indoor parking.
The restaurant's philosophy is based on using only the traditional specialities of Emilia-Romagna, with particular emphasis on products with DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta [Protected Designation of Origin]), IGP (Indicazione Geografica Protetta [Protected Geographical Indication]), DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata [Controlled Designation of Origin]) and DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita [Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin]) status, as well as on Slow Food gatherings, organic produce and artisanal food from small, local farms.
The Principessa Pio is less than 1.5 km from the main attractions of Ferrara, such as the Estense Castle and the Cathedral of St. George, and 2.5 km from Ferrara train station, which offers direct links to Padua and Bologna
