Lido di Spina: free beach next to Bagno Lido.
Lido degli Estensi: free beach area next to the Blue Moon bathing establishment
Porto Garibaldi: free beach area south of Park Emilio.
Lido delle Nazioni: free beach, privately owned, located between Bagno Albatros and Bagno Messico.
Lido di Volano: stretch of free beach between Bagno Franco and Bagno New Age.
Only dogs properly registrated at the dog registry office may access to the beach. Dogs must be kept on a leash and owners (or their keepers) are responsible for the welfare, control and conduct of the animals and are liable both civilly and criminally for any damage or injury to persons, property or animals caused by the animal.
Owners/keepers are obliged to provide shade for their animals, to supply water, and must ensure that the dog behaves appropriately in cohabitation with people and animals that enjoy the free beach.
Dogs must be free of flea infestation, ticks or other parasites, and female dogs are forbidden access to the area during the ‘heat’ estrous period. Owners/keepers must immediately remove any droppings produced by the animals and for this purpose they must be provided with suitable scoops/collectors, to be placed in the appropriate containers installed in the area. Infringements will be punished in accordance with Law 689/81 and the Navigation Code.
RULES FOR ACCESS AND BATHING IN THE SEA WITH 4-LEGGED FRIENDS
Ordinance no 42 of 07/07/2022 states that:
Access to state-owned beaches, to the strip of beach known as the ‘foreshore’ (i.e. 5 metres from the sea) in front of state-owned concessions and private beaches is allowed without time restrictions only outside the summer bathing season, as defined by the regional bathing ordinance in force, as this is a period of low attendance.
Dogs may only be admitted to beaches during the summer bathing season:
- in suitably equipped bathing establishments, subject to the presentation of a special SCIA by the concessionaires, certifying the identification, within the area under concession, of a duly equipped, delimited and reserved area, for the reception of pets, safeguarding in any case the safety and tranquillity of bathers;
- in the following stretches of free beach, duly delimited and signposted:
LIDO DI SPINA: stretch of free beach with a width of about m. 30 of sea front and a depth of about m. 50, adjacent to the left side of Bagno Lido
LIDO DEGLI ESTENSI: stretch of public beach with a width of about m. 30 of sea front and a depth of about m. 100, adjacent to the Blue Moon bathing establishment
PORTO GARIBALDI: a stretch of public beach with a sea front width of about m. 30 and a depth of about m. 50, south of Park Emilio;
LIDO DELLE NAZIONI: stretch of free beach, privately owned, between Bagno Albatros and Bagno Messico
LIDO DI VOLANO: stretch of free beach, with a width of about m. 30 and a depth of about m. 25, between Bagno Franco and Bagno New Age
- the prohibition to stop and walk dogs on the shoreline as this is the beach area most frequented by children as well as by adults supervising them or walking along the shore.
Furthermore, it is deemed necessary to regulate the possibility for dogs to bathe in the sea, in full compliance with the above-mentioned provisions and in the areas of water facing the stretches of free beach identified above, as follows:
- a maximum of 5 dogs at a time, which must stay for a maximum period of 10 minutes each;
- the owner, during bathing, at his own risk, shall in any case keep the animal on a leash in order to avoid danger to people;
- the following restrictions apply to bathing in the sea during the summer bathing season:
* in April, May and September, sea bathing is only permitted from sunrise to 10:00 am and from 6:00 pm to sunset;
* in June, July and August, sea bathing is only permitted from sunrise to 07:00 am and from 7:30 pm to sunset;
* From October to March bathing and access to the shoreline is free.
