Civic Gallery "G. Cattabriga"

Galileo Cattabriga (1901-1969), a painter well known also outside Bondeno, gave his name to the museum housed in a warehouse in the rear of Teodoro Bonati's birthplace.

Cattabriga's works are on permanent display on the first floor, while on the ground floor there is a hall for temporary exhibitions. About 60 works, owned by the Municipality, are shown in the museum. Six works by Cattabriga represent Bondeno, with its country life and traditions. The museum contains nine works by Antonio Benini as well (1835-1911). The most ancient painting displayed is "St. John the Evangelist" by Simone Cantarini (XVIIth century), follower of Guido Reni. Moreover two wooden baroque shrines representing saints of the Roman period.
