Frogs are really appreciated, due to their delicate meat. During the Middle Ages, in Italy and in France people used to eat frogs because they were easily captured from local fishermen.

A few years ago, in the countryside near Ferrara, the "ranari" used to wander in search of these animals during the night. The following day, fried or boiled frogs were prepared, or they were marinated, or salted.
Nowadays, frogs are an expensive and quite unusual food, which is most commonly found at the restaurant.
