The ancient palaces, the beautiful Este Castle, the roads and squares of Ferrara, are still the same as in the Renaissance period, all year round.

This unique City Centre, listed in the UNESCO Heritage, goes back to its most authentic atmosphere during the Carnival, for a great celebration of the Este period.
The event will be dedicated to Eleanor of Aragon, the first Duchess of Ferrara, who entered the city for the first time on July 3 rd , 1473, during a long celebration with parades, theatre shows, and many decorations dedicated to the Moon, the Sun and the Planets, designated to protect Ercole I of Este’s bride. So, the 2017 theme for the Renaissance Carnival in Ferrara will be “the Moon, the Sun and the Planets”.
The historic parade, dedicated to Eleanor of Aragon, will start on Saturday, February 25 th at 4 PM from Palazzo Schifanoia, and it will pass through the city centre to reach Piazza Municipale. There, a great travelling show has been organized. Many events will be also held during the last weekend of February, such as concerts, shows, guided tours and activities for both kids and adults in the main museums of the city.
