Ferrara Balloons Festival is one of the largest festivals of hot-air ballooning in Europe, with over 180,000 visitors on the 300,000 square meters of the Bassani Urban Park. More than 3,000 flights and 30 teams from Italy and abroad, bringing their many-coloured craft and special shapes, and more than 300 shows will light the green oasis just outside the Renaissance walls of the Unesco World Heritage City. After gaining the “Italian Heritage” acknowledgement, the Festival is going to take place from September, 8th to 17th , 2017.
The most important Balloons Festival in Italy, and one of the best in Europe, this event is a perfect mix of attractions and novelties to entertain all guests, in a beautiful natural setting, with bike paths, walking paths, little lakes and lagoons, at a small walking dostance to the historical centre of Ferrara, gem of the Renaissance and UNESCO World Heritage.
Many sport events and enterteinments for both kids and adults will be available. Wine and food tastings, music and art enterteinment, two contests (a photo contest and a second one for school groups), and many more activities will be organized, and shopping in the Park cannot be missed! Tons of sports and family fun, all revolving around these silent giants of the air: an opportunity you should jump on for a wonderful stay in Ferrara.
The huge hot air balloons will fly twice a day at 7,30 AM and at 5 PM, while they will shine with light and music during the “Night Glow”. New “Special shapes” will come this year: “Woody Woodpecker” and “Schroeder Cat” among the others.
Visitors can feel the thrill of flight, and experience other delights linked to the air, tethered balloon flights, kite displays, parachute jumps, aeroplane flights over the city and the Po Delta, and more. It will be possible to discover many sports, and kids will have lots of fun at the City Camp.
A Camper Area will be organized aside the Festival, while a Mediaeval zone, “Città Magica”, will recall the magical atmosphere of the past. At the Kids Garden, children will experiment lots of fun activities, as well as didactic laboratories. An entire pavillion will be dedicated to Military Areonautics, while the Carabinieri Corps will perform some of their best-known activities.
