The look of MICHELANGELO. ANTONIONI and the arts
From March, 10th to June, 9th, 2013
Born in Ferrara in 1912, Michelangelo Antonioni is one of the best film directors of the modern age: for sure, he transcended the borders of the Seventh Art. His work is inspired to figurative arts an it has been a great example for the contemporary cinema.
Ferrara Arte and the Modern Art Galleries of Ferrara, along with the Film Library of Bologna, are organizing an exhibition on this master: there, his work will be linked to the other artistic disciplines, such as music, photography, painting, and literature.
Curator of the exhibition will be Dominique Païni, director of the Cinémathèque Française.
The most important part of the exhibition will be represented by the group of more than 47,000 objects and documents related to Antonioni’s work and life, owned by the Comune di Ferrara: films, documentaries, photographs, books and records, the letters he wrote to Roland Barthes, Luchino Visconti, Andrei Tarkovsky, Giorgio Morandi and many other characters of the cultural scene, as well as his prizes and some personal objects.
